2020 Rankine Conference Moving Online

The IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration) Rankine Conference 2020 – Applications of Cooling, Heating and Power Generation is moving online. The virtual conference will be extended to 5 days, and will take place from July 27 to July 31.

The original conference was planned for July 26-29 in Glasgow, U.K.

“We are keen to take this unique opportunity to mark the anniversary of Rankine’s birth and celebrate his work and legacy,” the Paris-based IIR said on its website. “We have an excellent selection of technical papers and know that it is even more important in these times when face-to-face interaction is restricted that we continue to work, learn and celebrate together as a community regardless of physical distances.”

The event will explore new research and developments in the fields of power cycles, working fluids and RACHP (refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump) applications; it aims to provide insight and new inspiration to build “efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions,” said IIR.

It will include over 60 paper presentations, keynote lectures, short courses and a virtual coffee room for informal chats. There will be live presentations, and the option to view recorded versions later.

There will also be a virtual conference desk, and there is support for participants who may be attending a virtual conference for the very first time. 

The conference is aimed at end users, manufacturers, engineers, system designers, academics and policy makers.
