The new CEO of German compressor manufacturer Secop, Dr Andreas J. Schmid, aims to cement Secop’s position as a leading provider of innovative and environmentally friendly refrigeration solutions.

Secop manufactures compressors, specializing in hermetic compressor technologies, with products for commercial, medical and mobile cooling applications. The company has several product lines using propane (R290) and isobutane (R600a), and is increasingly focusing on variable-speed technology.

Schmid, who was appointed in May, said in a statement “My goal is to support Secop and help the group grow even further as a premium provider of innovative energy-efficient and green solutions for both stationary and mobile cooling markets while also expanding its position as a global leader.”

“With the support of Secop’s experienced team and the many years of experience and know-how the company draws upon, I am confident we can build a successful story to achieve Secop’s vision to be the first choice for partners searching for leading edge refrigeration solutions.”

“Secop is a strong brand that offers unique solutions with leading industry and operational expertise based on a tradition of high quality, innovation, application engineering, and customer service.”

“In the medical industry, for example, we are able to see how global vaccination campaigns in the fight against COVID-19 shows the importance of innovative cooling solutions for storing and transporting vaccines, down to ultra-low temperatures to support vaccines distribution in various areas.”

“Secop has been actively working in developing new solutions to support the medical cold chain with state of the art compressor and electronic technology to offer cooling solutions for both the storage and transportation of vaccines”

As a mark of the company’s effort to support the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines, its compressors and electronic control solutions have been officially certified by the World Health Organization for this purpose.

Schmid joined Secop after more than 20 years of international experience as a board member and managing director I a number of companies. Under his responsibility, the Funkwerk, Schaltbau, and FCT groups have grown “sustainably and profitably,” said Secop in a statement at the time.

Secop celebrated 10 years as an independent brand, having previously been part of the Danfoss Group, in December 2020. The year was a busy one for Secop, with a major restructure of its activities, creation of a new R&D center, launch of new larger R290 compressors, and launch of a capillary tube selection app for smartphones.
