HyChill: Minus40 - R290 the solution to replace R22

The specialist for hydrocarbon refrigerant has released the Minus40 brand as an ideal replacement for CFCs and HCFCs. It is already being used in supermarket food display cabinets, ice-cream display cabinets, heat pumps, and air conditioning systems.

Minus40 hydrocarbon refrigerant is R290, a pure refrigerant grade of propane. It can and is already being used in medium and low temperature refrigeration and air conditioning systems as an alternative to HCFC-R22. Its application range covers supermarket cabinets, ice-cream display cabinets, heat pumps, and air conditioning systems.

Minus 40, the natural and safe product from the Australian-based company HyChill is a pure hydrocarbon refrigerant with a single molecule and no temperature glide. It is suitable for transport refrigeration and static cool room applications. The product is fully compatible with most refrigeration systems, including valves and oils, both mineral and synthetic. In addition, Minus40 produces similar performance results to ammonia and could be used as a substitute in some applications.

Optimal substitute for R22

A major advantage of HyChill’s hydrocarbon refrigerant is that it is an ideal natural solution, a natural replacement for HCFC-R22. Manufacturers have shown a great deal of interest in R290 and experimentation has grown significantly in recent times in this alternative in pre-existing HCFC-R22 type technologies. The design changes required in HCFC-R22 systems is minimal and cheap to successful update designs for R290.

Due to their energy efficiency, reliability and excellent environmental performance, hydrocarbon refrigerants produced by HyChill have been verified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) and certified as an environmentally preferable refrigerant. GECA (www.geca.org.au) is part of the Global EcoLabelling Network (www.globalecolabelling.net) and the Global Environmental Declaration Network (www.gednet.org).

About HyChill

HyChill Australia Pty Ltd has been an expert in hydrocarbon refrigerants since 1999 but with expertise in the industry going back 30 years. HyChill started in hydrocarbon refrigerants 15 years ago by releasing Minus30, a replacement for R12 and R134a in automotive applications and now has a significant share of the automotive aftermarket business in Australia. The introduction of domestic refrigerators and numerous commercial/domestic applications for hydrocarbons over recent years has created new growth for hydrocarbons like Minus40. With offices in Asia and a head office based at the manufacturing plant in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, its natural direct replacements are shipped worldwide to OEM’s and other customers.
