The International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR) is a prestigious event organised by the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) every 4 years, bringing together leading refrigeration researchers, engineers, government officials and end-users. Addressing a wide thematic field, the Congress deals with industry developments and trends as well as major scientific results, and includes an exhibition and technical tours.

Event highlights
  • ICR Conference 2011: Development of natural refrigerant plug-in refrigerated display cabinets: At the International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR) held at the end of August, research investigating the optimum natural refrigerant for plug-in display cabinets was presented by Carrier Commercial Refrigeration. The study, presented during the technical session “Environmental footprint from refrigeration II”, looked at both CO2 and R290 (propane), with R290 eventually selected as the preferred option.

  • ICR - R290 heat pump testing could lead to its future use in energy efficient houses: On the fourth day of the International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR) Per Henrik Pedersen from the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) presented a study on the development and testing of small heat pumps using R290. The research demonstrated the feasibility of using R290 with a limited charge, which in the future could be used in new energy efficient houses.
