China&rsquo;s largest HC production base starts operations

China’s largest ultra-pure hydrocarbon refrigerant production base officially started operating on 16 November 2012, to produce 300,000 tonnes per year. The investor Shandong Huachao Chemical Co., Ltd. plans to establish another production programme specialised on isobutane (R600A).

The hydrocarbon refrigerant production base built in Shandong Province, officially launched on 16 November 2012, is located in a 300,000 m² area in Linyi County, Shandong Province. The production base mainly produces R290 and R600a for cold storage, air conditioning and refrigeration in China. In a first stage, a 300,000-ton-per-year plant has been put into production, before another 200,000-ton-per-year R600a plant will be built soon according to Shandong Huachao Chemical Co., Ltd.

The largest production base for ultra-pure hydrocarbon refrigerant in China

Shandong Huachao Chemical Co., Ltd. has invested about 500 million CNY (~61.5 million EUR) in the first-phase project. Until now, the plant is the largest production base for ultra-pure hydrocarbon refrigerant in China. The sales revenue is estimated to reach over 2 billion CNY (~245 million EUR) per year.

200,000-ton-per-year R600a project to be established

In the second-phase project, Shandong Huacha is planning to further invest 1.08 billion CNY (~132 million EUR) to establish another production programme specialised on isobutane (R600A). Once established, the plant can provide 200,000 tons of R600a to China’s refrigerators and air conditioner production. At present, the project’s environmental effect and safety assessment are still being processed by the government.
