Alexandra Maratou: EU F-Gas Regulation, HFC taxes & fiscal incentives for natural refrigerants

An update on the review of the EU F-Gas Regulation was provided in the presentation by Alexandra Maratou from shecco. She started by outlining the motives for revising the Regulation and the legislative process. From the recently agreed compromise deal she focused mostly on the proposed bans on HFCs that will will play the most important role in terms of giving the industry clear signal to move away from HFCs. Looking at regional activities in Europe, captured in a recent report “Guide+: HFC taxes & fiscal incentives for natural refrigerants in Europe”, Maratou showed that at least 13 countries have considered or adopted taxes on fluorinated gases or fiscal incentives for natural refrigerants.
