The 2020 Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services event was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARBS 2021 will still be held in Melbourne, Australia.

This year’s Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services (ARBS) exhibition, originally planned for May 19-21, has been postponed to February 15-17, 2021, because of the global coronavirus pandemic.

More information will be coming soon, said ARBS.

The postponement had been previously announced, although the new date was only recently communicated by the ARBS board. The decision to postpone ARBS 2020 was based on the following, said Sue Falcke, Events Organizer, in an online letter to the ARBS community:

  • ARBS exhibitions generally host around 10,000–12,000 participants, involving exhibitors, visitors, suppliers and contractor staff and we are concerned for the health, well-being and safety of all participants during what will be a challenging time for the whole country.
  • Many international exhibitors have limited or banned staff travel.
  • A number of interstate exhibitors have limited or banned interstate travel.
  • It is likely that the [Australian] Government will advise against major travel and movement and possibly limit large events if the virus continues to spread.
  • Many companies and staff may be put into self-isolation since the rate at which the virus is spreading at this stage is still unknown.
  • A number of our seminar presenters have already flagged their intention to cancel any travel in the foreseeable future.

This isn’t the only industry event that has been postponed in Australia. The Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) has also announced that it will suspend all upcoming HVAC&R conferences and events through May 31 amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic shutdown.
