The Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Association (REHVA) has updated its guide on using building services, including HVAC or plumbing systems, for geographic areas where there has been a coronavirus outbreak.

The latest update, published on April 3, adds information on the behavior of the coronavirus, including the following:

  • Airborne transmission and implications for HVAC systems.
  • Coronavirus stability data at different temperatures and relative humidity.
  • Heat recovery equipment guidance, including recommendations for inspection.
  • Guidance for room-level circulation units.
  • HVAC maintenance personnel protection recommendations.

The updated guide also includes a summary of 14 points of practical measures for building services operation.

The guide will continue to be updated regularly during the outbreak, utilizing information gathered by Dutch Professor Francesco Franchimon and REHVA’s own experts.
