Australian Refrigeration Association has a new president

Ian Tuena of CA Group Services has replaced Tim Edwards as head of the Australian Refrigeration Association (ARA).

Tim Edwards has stepped down as president of the Australian Refrigeration Association (ARA). His replacement, Ian Tuena of CA Group Services, is another keen supporter of natural refrigerants in Australia.

Climate Control News reported that Edwards had to step down for health reasons after five years in the role.

In an announcement to ARA members, Tuena said: "This is to let you know that I will be taking up the reins of the Australian Refrigeration Association as president, effective immediately, supported by a revitalised Board.”

"Tim Edwards has served in this role for the past five years. The ARA Board and I thank Tim for the contribution he made in establishing the ARA and causing the HVAC&R industry to consider the value of natural refrigerant-based technology,” Tuena said.

The new president is very aware of the need to deliver energy and emissions reductions in the refrigeration industry, post-Kigali.

We understand that we need for far greater participation by industry stakeholders in delivering the cost savings and emissions reduction made possible by natural refrigerant-based technology."

"We understand that we need for far greater participation by industry stakeholders in delivering the cost savings and emissions reduction made possible by natural refrigerant-based technology. It is a challenge we are asking you to contribute to and welcome your support," Tuena said.

Edwards echoed similar statements in another speech to the board, calling for the amendment to the Montreal Protocol to be adopted as soon as possible.

"Australia has the ability and need to lead this opportunity in the national interest…and it needs to happen now,” he said.
