Secop’s XV compressor proves ‘small is the new big’

Secop, an expert in advanced compressor technologies, introduces its XV compressor for R600a, which boasts a compact 100mm height with rubber grommets. It’s small size allows for up to 20L extra storage volume and increases the total system efficiency. Secop highlights that the XV compressor can provide up to 40% efficiency gains compared to standard compressors.

Building on over 50 years of experience in compressor technology, Secop has developed the XV compressor, which combines small size with high performance to set a new standard for household compressors. Its simplified construction set-up ensures both flexibility and efficiency with a considerable reduction in height, weight and noise.
Never has anything so small performed so great!” says Jan Biesel, Market Communication Manager at Secop.

Key benefits

  • Up to 40% efficiency gains
  • Up to 20L extra storage volume in cooling cabinets
  • Reduces costs and sensitivity towards raw materials
  • Light and compact build (100mm height, 4.8kg weight)
  • Low noise of 32 dB(A)
  • Broad dynamic range (1:4) and adaptable capacity without forbidden speeds
  • Eases process handling and stock
  • Wide voltage range (160-264 V AC at 50/60 Hz) - which means that it can operate at full capacity in refrigerators and freezers in regions with an unstable voltage supply.
  • HST capable - which means it has a high starting torque and can start against a differential pressure.
  • Full protection by the electronic unit

Simple and efficient design

Secop highlights the XV compressor’s unique external rotor motor that enables the use of much larger magnets, ensuring a superior compressor efficiency, as one of the key features. According to Secop, the compressor’s modular design combines the advantages of standardisation with customisation. The compressor is also assembled without any screws. This construction allows for a reduction in the use of expensive copper material.

Contrary to traditional fixed speed compressors, the XV relies on variable speed, eliminating the constant stop-and-go motion and minimising the strain on the system. The XV compressor runs almost full time, which lowers the pressure difference between the evaporator and the condenser, leading to a more energy efficient condition for the compressor and more balance cooling temperature.

The XV compressor is HST capable, meaning it has a high starting torque and can start against differential pressure. Its high voltage range (160-264V at 50/60Hz) enables it to operate at full capacity in refrigerators and freezers in regions with an unstable voltage supply. With reduced cooling capacity it can even work at voltages down to 50 V.
