The Appliance Standards Program establishes test procedures for measuring energy efficiency of covered products and establishes mandatory standard energy efficiency levels. The DOE’s Program closely collaborates with EPA and ENERGY STAR, as well as with the Fedaral Trade Commission (FTC). The Program is highly effective with annual carbon dioxide savings expected to reach nearly 260 million tons by 2020. In 2013, Standards Rulemakings are ongoing for approximately 30 products, Test Procedure Rulemakings for 30 products and ENERGY STAR test methods for 12 products.
