This conference addresses continuing international concerns about the adverse environmental impacts of refrigerants with high ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP), which is inevitably leading to increased focus on low GWP alternatives. This includes new generations of unsaturated flourochemicals, with continued examination of “natural” refrigerants.
This is the fourth jointly sponsored conference between ASHRAE and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Past conferences provided information and updates on the phase-out of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants and better use/management of hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants.
This conference provides an opportunity for participants to learn about the latest information on alternative refrigerants, likely time schedules, transition requirements, environmental effects of refrigerants, new refrigerant performance considerations and what will be required to phase-out the use of high GWP refrigerants with alternatives and other technologies.
This conference includes invited papers from leading global experts. These papers will cover the latest developments on refrigerants including:
Panel discussions by industry experts are included at the end of each day. The focus of the conference is on technical issues and longer term forecast for success, with a global viewpoint.

The conference provides an opportunity for all involved in the different aspects of refrigeration: policymakers, manufacturers, researchers and government officials to hear the latest on trends and directions going forward. Experts on every facet of the issue will be available for two days for a lively information exchange, with an evening dinner on Monday for more informal discussion.
