Tamayo Marukawa, a former Environment Minister for Japan who currently serves as a member of the upper house of the Japanese Parliament, is set to deliver the keynote speech at the upcoming ATMOsphere Japan 2021 online conference (organized by shecco, publisher of this website) on February 15.

“For several years, the ATMOsphere platform has played an important role in the reduction of emissions in the global HVAC&R industry,” said Marukawa. “As a member of the Japanese parliament, I'm excited and honored to be delivering the keynote speech for the conference in Japan this year to share our perspective on this important environmental initiative in our country.”

Marukawa also previously served as Japan's Minister of the Environment from 2015 to 2016. During this time, she delivered a statement at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21) in Paris, in which she acknowleged that “by strengthening the development of innovative technologies, Japan will strongly uphold global climate action.”

Marukawa was first elected to her position in the Japanese Parliament in July 2007. She has since served in several roles and was re-elected for a second term in 2013, then again for a third term in July 2019.

“It is amazing to see the increasing recognition by governments around the world of the need to reduce emissions in the cooling sector,” said Jan Dusek, Chairman of ATMOsphere Japan 2021. “And here in Japan, it is no different.”

“We are excited and extremely honored to welcome Ms. Marukawa's keynote address at ATMO Japan 2021 this year. We believe this is a clear signal that, up until now, we have only seen just the beginning of the advancement of the clean cooling mission here in Japan.”
