Woolworths, an Australian retailer, is seeking applicants for its 2020 refrigeration technician apprenticeship program, and applicants have until July 6 to apply.

The retailer has openings for apprentice refrigeration technicians in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria; the openings can be found on the Woolworths Group’s career portal.

Woolworths, which operates over 1,000 stores, has 13 locations that use transcritical CO2, and has described these systems as its “new normal”.

In the program, apprentices will “be exposed to the latest refrigeration technologies, ongoing support and training,” according to Woolworths’ job notices.

They will “join one of Australia’s largest refrigeration employers where we put safety and our customers first, share ideas and collaborate with a cohort of apprentices nationally.”

In addition, they will have the chance to “learn from experts in the field and feel encouraged to contribute, and gain exposure to the installation and service of refrigeration systems,” according to Woolworths.

The program lasts for four years, and potential applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Applicants may be required to complete online psychometric assessments, video interviews, panel interviews and medical and background checks, and all candidates will be contacted by Woolworth’s Talent Acquisition Team by mid-August, according to Woolworths.

Students finishing year 12 this year are eligible to apply, and may be selected for apprenticeships scheduled to start in 2021.

“Candidates who meet a number of the requirements, but not all, are also encouraged to apply,” said Woolworths.
