The International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo) is now inviting submissions for its annual Innovation Awards competition. The deadline is August 6, 2019.

The competition aims to honor original products, systems and technologies that disrupt the HVAC&R industry and raise the bar for technical innovation.

The awards include the following categories: building automation; cooling; green building; heating; indoor air quality; plumbing; refrigeration; software; tools and instruments; and ventilation. From the 10 category winners, an overall Product of the Year winner will be selected.

A number of past award winners and finalists have featured natural refrigerant and other energy-saving technologies.  At the 2019 AHR Expo in January, enVerid Systems won Product of the Year for its HLR 1000E module, a molecular air-cleaning system that reduces cooling and heating loads.

A panel of third-party judges, representing the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), will decide the winners. These will be announced at the Expo, which takes place in Orlando, Fla., on February 3 - 5, 2020.

To be considered for an award, products must be exhibited at the 2020 AHR Expo, and be on sale by the end of February 2020.

“Each year’s submissions give us a true indication of just how much progress is made from year to year, and we look forward to highlighting those that are taking the lead with innovation,” said Mark Stevens, manager of AHR Expo.

Entry fees ($100 per entry) are donated to a charitable organization in the community where the show is held, generally to provide HVAC&R repairs or upgrades.
