TripleAqua becomes Silver Partner on hydrocarbons21.com

TripleAqua, an innovative heat pump harnessing propane to heat and cool buildings, has become a Silver Partner.

TripleAqua, an innovative heat pump harnessing propane (R290) has become a Silver Partner on hydrocarbons21.com.

The TripleAqua has the ability to store heat and cold in buffers for later use in the building, providing heating and cooling simultaneously or individually. It uses three rather than the customary four water-loop pipes to distribute heat and cold, and to return water at ambient temperature.

“TripleAqua is delighted to join hydrocarbons21.com as a Silver Partner and looks forward to – being the first of its kind – accelerating the use of propane in heat pumps, bringing huge benefits not only for the climate but also for the climate in your building!” said Menno van der Hoff, who was the driving force behind TripleAqua’s development.

Van der Hoff is head of R&D and HVAC manager at Uniechemie, a division of Swedish HVAC&R distributor Beijer Ref, which is marketing TripleAqua. According to Beijer Ref, TripleAqua can save up to 50% in heating and cooling costs in commercial buildings (including office buildings, hotels, supermarkets and hospitals) compared to traditional heat pumps, with a COP (coefficient of performance) between 4 and 10.

Conventional heat pumps reverse the refrigerant flow, which reduces the efficiency of the heat exchangers. But with TripleAqua, the refrigerant cycle is no longer reversed between summer and winter mode. This means the heat exchangers are always and only used for the specific role for which they have been optimised.
