Prague is hosting the 23rd IIR International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR) on 21-26 August 2011 to present updates on research and commercial viability of refrigeration systems. hydrocarbons21.com will be present at the event with a booth to meet the HC community and report live from the event.

Researchers, engineers, government officials and end-users will meet at the IIR ICR in Prague end of August to share latest progress in research and commercialisation of refrigeration equipment using hydrocarbons, ammonia, CO2 and synthetic working fluids in refrigeration and beyond. Thematic paper sessions, workshops and plenary lectures pair with the exhibition organised in the Prague Congress Centre's foyer.

IIR ICR Programme

On Sunday 21 August, the Congress will welcome participants with the General Conference, Council and Executive Committee sessions. From Monday until Friday, four thematic sessions per day are scheduled to discuss ten themes in parallel.

Plenary lectures shall address refrigeration in such distinct ambiances as the Large Hadron Collider and foodstuffs production. Workshops include views on the United Nations Environment Programme Technical Options Committee, applications of refrigeration to the food chain and refrigerated transport.

Hydrocarbon presentations

In its 2011 edition, the ICR presents the following hydrocarbon related papers:

R290 - Propane

Heat Pumps, Energy Recovery Commission
  • Experimental study of R290 enhanced system performance in residential air-conditioners and heat pumps;
  • Investigation of transcritical propane heat-pump system.

  • Heat transfer and bubble dynamics in pool boiling of propane outside a finned steel tube;
  • Saturated flow boiling heat transfer characteristics of propane in a smooth vertical mini channel up to dry-out incipience.
Air Conditioning Commission
  • Research of Lubrication Oil Apply to R290 Rotary Compressor.
Refrigerating equipment Commission
  • Usage of a new working substance in propane refrigeration installation;
  • Experimental investigations of minichannel propane condenser.
R600a - Isobutane

Thermodynamics & transfer processes Commission
