Being on the ground at Asia’s key event for HVAC&R experts confirms the impression of rising markets for hydrocarbon products compared to last year’s event. The hydrocarbon market, especially for R290 products, is growing fast and is going beyond domestic refrigeration. At the trade fair taking place in Beijing this year, several Chinese manufacturers confirmed the great potential of hydrocarbon technology. Those talking to hydrocarbons21.com, even the ones that were not displaying hydrocarbon (HC) products, confirmed that they would be working on HC air conditioning units and expect these to be on display within the next two years.

This also proves another trend for hydrocarbon technology: wider application ranges. HCs are going beyond domestic refrigeration and several Asian companies are already preparing for light commercial and air conditioning applications.

Embraco: The Brazilian compressor manufacturer focused this year particularly on propane products and showcased its R290 compressor range at the China Refrigeration trade fair. Embraco can build on 15 years of experience in the Chinese market and recognised already the current and future market potential of the natural refrigerant. The following products were on display:

NEK range
  • Products cooling capacity at 50Hz: 247 to 582 W for LBP and 730 to 1586 W for HBP
  • Product on display: NEK2134U (220-240V, 50hz)
F-range
  • Products cooling capacity at 50Hz: 319 W for LBP
  • Product on display: FFU 130 UAX (220-240V, 50hz)
NT-range
  • Products cooling capacity at 50Hz: 700 to 935 W for LBP and 1786 to 2843 W for HBP
  • Product on display: NT6224U (220-240V, 50hz)
  • Additional product on display: EMT2125U, EMT range (220-240V, 50hz)
Highly Group: The Shanghai-based research and development company for freezing equipments presented its range of R290 compressors in Beijing. Besides the environmental advantages of using the natural refrigerant propane, the compressor range features higher efficiency motor design and an optimal structure, which leads to a higher energy efficiency ratio. It is available in different series and displacements from 16.2-48.8 cc/rev. The cooling capacity ranges from 2300 to 7300 W depending on the model. Models on display:
  • NQR70MG
  • NQR90MG
  • PSG162RV
Jinlaier: The Chinese-based refrigerant producer Shandong Jinlaier displayed its product range of hydrocarbon refrigerants, including R290 and R600a. The company is specialised in the production of hydrocarbons refrigerants and produces over 10,000 tons of high-purity isobutane, more than 8,000 tons of butane with high purity, and 5,000 tons of high-purity propane.

Bock: The German manufacturer showcased an ATEX compressor at their booth that is also available for hydrocarbons.
