The E360 webinar, in support of World Refrigeration Day, is scheduled for July 7.

U.S.-based component manufacturer Emerson will host a webinar on career opportunities for HVAC&R technicians on July 7 at 9 am EDT in support of World Refrigeration Day (WRD).

The webinar, “Exploring Cool Careers and Emerging Opportunities in HVACR,” follows the theme of WRD (June 26), which is “Cooling Champions: Cool Careers for a Better World.”

The conference will feature panelists and a roundtable discussion that will focus on attracting and recruiting the next generation of HVACR service technicians.

Emerson’s Commercial & Residential Solutions business manufactures natural refrigerant components for commercial and residential applications. It is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its Copeland line, which includes a variety of compressors designed for CO2 (R744) and propane (R290) applications.

“As the previous generations of technicians retire and fewer candidates enter the field, our industry faces an urgent need for skilled technicians,” said Dr. Rajan Rajendran, vice president, system innovation center and sustainability at Emerson, in a statement.

Rajendran believes that the shortage creates opportunities for young people looking for a long-term career path without attending a four-year college. “In this webinar, we hope to highlight the trends we are seeing, the tools and technologies that are modernizing the industry, and the perks and benefits of a career in HVACR,” he said.

The panelists will cover the following topics:

  • Leveraging advanced technologies and modern tools,
  • Equipping technicians with skills that enable a high earning potential,
  • Co-op and apprenticeship opportunities to learn the trade while also earning a paycheck,
  • Learning skills that support our infrastructure and make the world a better place,
  • Inspiring passion in HVACR professions.

The roundtable discussion with global Emerson stakeholders will share their experiences and strategies for educating, recruiting, and retaining the next generation of HVACR technicians.
