R290 Gas Detector to Be Linked to Cell-Phone Monitoring System

NevadaNano, a Reno, Nevada (U.S.)-based gas sensor manufacturer, has announced that Universal Safety Monitoring (USM), will use NavadaNano’s Molecular Property Spectrometer (MPS) flammable gas sensors in USM’s mobile-phone-based personal safety monitors.

The collaboration will allow end users to monitor gas risks in the field to make proactive safety intervention decisions remotely as well as receive alerts and “not safe-zone-entry” notifications.

NevadaNano produces leak detection sensors for propane (R290) and other gases used in residential and commercial applications, including air conditioning, vending machines, commercial refrigeration, and clothes dryers.

In this collaboration, USM, based in Australia, will use the NevadaNano MPS technology in its BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) gas sensors.

To monitor gas risks remotely, end users will connect their mobile phone fleet to USM’s Universal Data Interface using USM’s Global Asset Monitor iOS or Android apps, and by pairing the USM BLE Clip-On Gas Sensor to a mobile phone.

The “non-IS” solution is expected to be available end of Q4 2021 following Pilot A Trials. The “IS” version is scheduled for 2022. Ultimately, USM plans to incorporate NevadaNano sensors into the next iteration of its Personal Safety Monitors.

NevadaNano also recently announced that its MPS gas detectors will be available from European distributors Maritex Company,  Gas Sensor RU and GVZ Components.
