Euroklimat propane chiller serves the 9,000m2 site, which includes both the dairy and offices.
A Danish cheese manufacturer has chosen a propane (R290) air-to-water chiller from Italian OEM Euroklimat for its dairy, which includes 9,000m2 (96,875ft2) of production facilities and offices.
The end user, which was not named, is utilizing an “innovative” production concept, coupled with advanced technology and high levels of hygiene, Euroklimat said on its website.
The Euroklimat EKO.E-B/SL/VFD 642 S chiller has a nominal cooling capacity of 110kW (31.3TR) at an ambient temperature of 30°C (86°F). The inlet temperature on the user side is 7°C (44.6°F) and the outlet temperature is 2°C (35.6°F). The fluid in the system is a water and propylene glycol mixture, which is “perfectly suitable” for the food industry, Euroklimat said.
The R290 chiller sports two inverter-driven semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors (which comply with the European Union’s ATEX safety requirements), a finned pack heat exchanger and three EC fans. It is also equipped with a brazed plate evaporator and soundproofing “sandwich” panels.
The chiller is directly connected to a pumping station, and a 2,000L (528.3 gallon) buffer tank, to maintain a constant flow rate and temperature. “The tank is in turn plugged into the secondary circuit to serve the users in a precise and constant way,” Euroklimat explained.
All Euroklimat’s R290 products are designed using its Zero Leak design model. “A careful study of the joints and pipes makes it possible to eliminate the risk of refrigerant leaks,” the company said in a product brochure.
