Swedish HVAC manufacturer Swegon has launched BlueBox Titan Sky, a line of commercial air-source heat pumps using propane (R290) and inverter technology and offering a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of up to 4.12.

“[Bluebox] Titan Sky establishes a new benchmark in terms of the lowest TEWI (Total Equivalent Warming Impact) for heat pumps for commercial applications, with Eurovent-certified performance, and adhering to the Ecodesign standard,” Swegon said on its website. Natural heat pumps “will contribute to Europe dcarbonization and climate neutrality,” the company added.

Heat pumps using natural refrigerants are expected to see greater adoption in 2021, according to industry sources.

The BlueBox Titan Sky line, offering capacities ranging from 30-200 kW (8.5-56.9TR), consists of full-inverter reversible heat pumps with reciprocating compressors and plate heat exchangers. The range includes five models with a single circuit between 30 and 100kW, and four models with a double circuit (offering complete redundancy) between 110 and 200kW.

The heat pumps generate high-temperature outlet water up to 63°C (145.4°F). It operates in ambient temperature as low as -20°C (-4°F), with outlet water up to 50°C (122°F). They feature a narrow frame (1130mm/3.7ft)

The units includes optional low-noise and desuperheater versions. Other optional features include Swegon’s BlueThink advanced control with integrated web server; Multilogic function; Blueye supervision system; and Flowzer inverter-driven pumps.

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Swegon has subsidiaries and distributors all over the world and 16 production plants in Europe, North America and India.
